Welcome to Blue Ridge
|
|
The average altitude is 1,760 feet above sea level, and over 4,000 feet at Cowpen Ridge in the Cohutta Wilderness. More than 40 percent of the county’s 165,000 acres is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest which gives us an advantage of enjoying nature and its abundant wildlife. Winding through the heart of the county from one end to the other is the Toccoa River flowing northward into Tennessee and changing names to the Ocoee River at the state line. You may recall the 1996 Olympic white water events were held at this location. There is a vast history in the Blue Ridge area but most people seem to be interested in the laid back way of life and the outdoor activities offered on the rivers, lakes, hiking trails and beautiful surroundings. The Fannin County Chamber of Commerce announced that 73% of the visitors to our area come for vacation, the majority being from Georgia, followed closely by Florida. Once they come in contact with the mesmerizing mountain beauty, outdoor activities and slower pace of life, they long for a little piece of paradise. Come rent a cabin, go horseback riding, whitewater rafting, tubing, hiking, fishing, or just sit back on your porch enjoying the birds during the day. At night, enjoy the crickets, fireflies and the millions of stars visible away from the city lights. Blue Ridge is conveniently located two hours from Atlanta, GA and Chattanooga, TN.
